Consider motion to approve Resolution Referring to the Northfield Economic Development Authority (EDA) to Provide Advisory Role to City Council Related to the 5th & Water and 5th & Washington Redevelopment Projects.
Summary Report:
The City Council received presentations at the April 9, 2024 City Council work session and April 16, 2024 City Council meeting regarding approving referring the Northfield Economic Development Authority (EDA) to provide an advisory role to the City Council related to the 5th & Water and 5th and Washington redevelopment projects.
Council provided feedback to staff and voted to table approval of the resolution until the next regular City Council meeting. Attached is a redline illustrating changes that were made based on City Council feedback at the worksession. Those additions include: moving the comprehensive plan to the top of the plan references with some added emphasis areas, additional reference of the Comprehensive Economic Development Plan, and adding an initial presentation back to the City Council no later than September of 2024.
Also attached is Resolution 2023-072 regarding preliminary authorization for a downtown redevelopment project is attached (attachment #2) as a reference.
