Bridge Square Review and Application of Guidelines

Action Requested:                     

The Heritage Preservation Commission will hear a presentation from consultants with 106 Group and discuss the process of reviewing and applying design guidelines and preservation standards to a cultural landscape, specifically Bridge Square.

 

Summary Report:

The city has contracted with 106 Group, a specialized heritage, cultural, and preservation firm, to assist in the redevelopment of Bridge Square. Consultants with 106 Group have conducted archeology on the site, and coordinated with SHPO and the design team on developing the redevelopment plans for Bridge Square. They will present on the complex task of applying historic design guidelines and the Secretary of the Interiors Standards to cultural landscapes in advance of the Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness.

 

Commissioners should ask clarifying questions to further their understanding of how to apply the standards and guidelines in evaluating this project.
