Title

Discuss Art in City Hall.

Body

Action Requested:

Discussion/Information Only.

Summary Report:

The Arts and Culture Commission first discussed the Art in City Hall program in August of this year but decisions about moving forward were tabled until the Arts Guild had a new director in place. The Library Director and Arts Guild Director have had the opportunity to talk about next steps and the Arts Guild has expressed a need for extended gallery space since they lost space both at Tandem Bagels and the Archer House. They have also expressed that they have the capacity for and interest in helping curate artwork for spaces in City Hall on the first floor, and some additional space on the second floor when it is available. This would not affect space allocated for youth artwork on the second floor, or displace any permanent pieces the City has acquired, such as the Lady Slipper sculpture.
