Summary Report:

1.                     Happy Preservation Month! <https://savingplaces.org/stories/preservation-month-2023>

2.                     The Transit Hub plans are tentatively planned to be approved by City Council in May.

3.                     The EDA is discussing bringing back the Façade Improvement Grant next year.

4.                     The City Council will have a work session on the riverfront and downtown development on May 9th.

5.                     The Arts and Culture Commission will be hosting a Public Art Review Committees (PARC) in the coming months for public art projects in downtown for Artists on Main Street.

6.                     Staff are working with a class at Carleton College to do a historic preservation StoryMap.

7.                     The City is working with Barr Engineering on a Feasibility Report to explore options for the Ames Mill Dam. More information will be presented in the coming months.

8.                     All properties within the Historic District are eligible to apply for funding through the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation’s Main Street Grant program. 9.                     The EDA’s Riverfront Enhancement Grant application is open until May 15th. Some properties in the Historic District are eligible to apply. More information is available at: <https://www.northfieldmn.gov/753/EDA-Grants-Loans>

12.                     Minor COAs:

                     302 Division St (Fire Station and City Hall building) - tuckpointing, replacing stone window sills on the west facade, repairing of the spalled concrete on the base of the concrete patio, and the washing and sealing of the concrete patio.

                     220 Division St (Nutting Block building) - replacement of the brick arches, tuckpointing, washing the building and using a brick sealer to preserve the brick and mortar, replacing the failing flashing at the top of the building, and repainting the Nutting Block sign.
