Title

Draft Application for Art on City Property.

Body

Action Requested:

ACC discusses the draft Application for Art on City Property.

Summary Report:

The Arts in Public Places Policy was adopted by City Council in 2017. The policy lays out the responsibilities of the Arts and Culture Commission, one of which is to approve the design, installation, maintenance and decommissioning of privately or publicly funded two or three-dimensional art, sculpture or garden-art decoration or installations on city-owned property.

The application is an effort to make clear and ensure the consistent application of this council policy when individuals and groups come forward with proposals for, or donations of, artwork that is intended to be displayed on city property.

Both the application and policy are attached to this report. There is still a bit of work to be done to clarify the approval procedure but the draft application is ready for initial review by the Arts and Culture Commission.
