Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves Resolution Extension of Joint Resolution for Orderly Annexation by and Between Bridgewater Township and the City of Northfield.
Summary Report:
The City of Northfield and Bridgewater Township have an orderly annexation agreement (attachment 2) scheduled to expire at the end of the year. The orderly annexation agreement was previously extended on September 17, 2019 as Resolution 2019-099 (attachment 3). Bridgewater Township representatives, the Council Committee, and City staff have been negotiating a new orderly annexation agreement but need additional time to complete negotiations. Staff proposes a twelve-month extension to reach a new orderly annexation agreement but expects to reach a new agreement within the first half of 2023.
Attached is a proposed extension of the current agreement to continue for another year under the same terms and conditions (attachment 1).
