The Northfield City Council approves Resolution Extension of Joint Resolution for Orderly Annexation by and Between Northfield Township and the City of Northfield.

Summary Report:

The City of Northfield and Northfield Township have an orderly annexation agreement (attachment 2) scheduled to expire at the end of the year. The orderly annexation agreement was previously extended on December 7, 2021 as Resolution 2021-119 (attachment 3).  Northfield Township representatives, the Council Committee, and City staff have been negotiating a new orderly annexation agreement but need additional time to complete negotiations.  Staff proposes a twelve-month extension to reach a new orderly annexation agreement but expects to reach a new agreement within the first half of 2023.

Attached is a proposed extension of the current agreement to continue for another year under the same terms and conditions (attachment 1).
