Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council will hear a presentation from Shane Zahrt with Flaherty & Hood and Mayor Pat Baustian, City of Luverne., related to Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) membership and Benefits.
Summary Report:
Councilor Brad Ness requested an opportunity to vote on considering membership to the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC).
Attached to this item is a packet containing information related to joining the CGMC. These include: (1) a letter sent to the city earlier this summer regarding CGMC membership; (2) a dues invoice detailing what Northfield's dues would be to join for 2022; (3) an FAQ about the CGMC; (4) a document titled "40 years of advocacy" discussing the issue areas CGMC focuses on; and (5) a timeline of CGMC's recent advocacy work on Local Government Aid. Also attached is a copy of the presentation for Tuesday's worksession and a link to the CGMC website.

Shane Zahrt with Flaherty & Hood (staff for the CGMC) and Mayor Pat Baustian, City of Luverne and President of the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities will be presenting on membership and benefits. The City Council will be provided an opportunity for questions of the presenters at the meeting.

Council will be provided an opportunity at the January 18th meeting to consider membership.
Financial Impacts:
New member cities or returning member cities of the CGMC that have not been members within the past five years are able to join the organization on a phasing-in dues schedule that allows you to join at 25% of your total calculated dues, phasing up to 100% in year four of member...
