Title
HRC Work Plan for 2022

Body
Action Requested:
HRC begins to develop work plan for 2022.

Summary Report:
In order for the HRC Commissioners and staff to make the best use of meeting and outside meeting time spent on HRC items, the HRC will develop a more intentional work plan for 2022. The City is also asking all Boards & Commissions to align their work, as much as possible, with the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is one of the six priority areas as well as other items that have connections to Human Rights. A copy of the plan can be found at: https://www.ci.northfield.mn.us/1148/City-Strategic-Plan A one-page summary is also attached.

Per the City Code (Article VI, Division 3, Human Rights Commission, Sec. 2-339 Purpose) "The purpose of the human rights commission is to secure for all citizens equal opportunity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public services and education and full participation in the affairs of this community by assisting the state department of human rights in implementing the state human rights act and by advising the city council on long range programs to improve community relations in the city."

HRC Commissioners are asked to think about the following questions to begin discussion:

1. Are there items or topics that can support the city strategic plan you would like to see the HRC Commissioners work on in 2022?
2. Of these topics, are there any you would be willing to lead? If so, how? For example: convene a work group of residents,
3. What resources might be needed to carry actions out?
4. What is the "deliverable"? For example: gather data to bring to City Council, provide community outreach at event, review and recommend Council support.

The HRC will begin work on this at the December meeting and complete at the January 2022 meeting.
