Presentation of Recognition for Implementing Municipal ID Program.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council receives a recognition plaque for Rice County Neighbors United and the City of Northfield as a recognition of implementing the first and only Municipal identification (ID) program in the State of Minnesota.
Summary Report:
A presentation will be held to present the recognition to the City of Northfield for being the only city in the State of Minnesota to implement a Municipal ID program. Lucina (Lucy) Gonzalez Miron and Mar Valdecantos will be present at the meeting to present the award to the City. A photo will be taken after the presentation of the award.
The award recognizes the City’s efforts for advancing the rights of all and especially caring about the immigrant communities. Many cities have approached Northfield inquiring about the process as they want to have their own IDs but so far, none of them have implemented a program. Northfield remains the only city in Minnesota.
