Title
Consider Resolution Authorizing Entering into Grant Agreement with the State of Minnesota for the Northfield Transit Hub.
Body
Action Requested:
Staff recommends a motion to approve Resolution authorizing the City Administrator to enter into grant agreement with the State of MN related to General Obligation Bond Proceeds for the Northfield Transit Hub.
Summary Report:
In June of 2019, City Council approved a resolution requesting State of Minnesota bond funds for the Northfield Regional Transit Hub. In the 2020 State of Minnesota legislative session, the City was successful in receiving bond funds.
The bonds funds amount to $1,750,000 for the Regional Transit Hub. This bond includes funding for the transit hub, pavilion, railroad quiet zone improvements, and trail connections.
Once the grant agreements are approved, then the City can proceed. The first agreement with the state will be for the design and the second agreement will be for construction. The action today allows for the City Administrator to enter into the grant agreements.
