Title
Presentation and Discussion of Water System Study.

Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council discusses the Water System Study - Project WATR2021-J28.

Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to discuss the Water System Study (Attachment 1) that was completed by Bolton and Menk, Inc and Barr Engineering. The City is conducting the Water System Study in response to samples taken as part of the Fourth Unregulated Contaminants Monitoring Rule (UCMR 4). As part of the sample analysis, manganese was analyzed within the drinking water. The Water System Study is looking at ways for the City to lower the level of manganese within its water supply to provide drinking water to all residents at safe level.

As part of the Water System Study, Bolton and Menk, Inc. completed the following items:
- Gather and Review Background Information
- Water Demand Projection
- Evaluation of the Existing Water Supply
- Evaluation of the Water Quality
- Evaluate Water Treatment Options
- Treatment Plant and New Source Water Wells Siting Study
- Space Needs Assessment
- Staffing Review and Analysis
- Draft Report
- Public Outreach
- Final Report

Recommendations within the Water System Study and Presentation (Attachment 2):
- Construct additional water storage capacity to meet needs within the next 10 years.
- Construct a Water Treatment Plant that includes Gravity Filtration and Reverse Osmosis to achieve lower manganese concentrations and s...
