Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council is being asked to consider the attached resolution approving an off-site gambling premises permit application for the Defeat of Jesse James Days Committee to conduct off site gambling activities at Babcock Park, during the Defeat of Jesse James Days September 10 and 11, 2021.  The Committee will also be selling raffle tickets in advance of the event. 

 

Summary Report:

The Defeat of Jesse James Days Committee is in the process of applying for a premises permit to conduct off site charitable gambling in addition to a raffle prior to the event.  Pursuant to Gambling Control Board procedures, part of the process includes obtaining city approval of the premises permit.  The off-site gambling premises permit will allow the Defeat of Jesse James Days Committee to conduct gambling activities at Babcock Park during the Defeat of Jesse James Days September 10 and 11, 2021, and a raffle in advance of the event, subject to the rules and regulations of the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.  Staff recommends approval.

Financial Impacts:                     

The City of Northfield receives a $30 fee for the premises permit.

 

Tentative Timelines:                     

If approved, the permit is then forwarded to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board for consideration.  The DJJD Committee would like to start selling raffle tickets as soon as possible.
