Consider Approval of Temporary Expansion Permit for outdoor dining for Basil’s Pizza at 301 South Water Street.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council hereby approves the Temporary Expansion Permit for outdoor dining for Basil’s Pizza from date of Council approval through March 31, 2022, subject to the following conditions:
1. Issuance of an Outdoor Dining Permit is approved for Basil’s Pizza subject to the following conditions:
• Final review and approval of layout and barriers proposed to be used by the Chief of Police
• Compliance with all terms and conditions noted in City Code Section 6-70 - Temporary expansion of licensed premises/outdoor sales and service.
• Basil’s Pizza outdoor dining hours of operation: Daily from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. as weather permits the months of May through September.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to approve a Temporary Expansion Permit for outdoor dining for Basil’s Pizza from date of Council approval through March 31, 2022. City Code Section 6-70 outlines regulations for temporary expansion of licensed premises and is included as Attachment 1.
Basil’s Pizza has proposed to use the sidewalk on both sides of the entrance of the building adding 4 tables with chairs (2 on each side of the entrance). They would serve in this location from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily weather permitting approximately May through September. A diagram of the outdoor dining areas is included as Attachment 2.
