Consider Accepting the 2021-2023 Yard Waste Compost Agreement with Rice County.

Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council adopts a Motion approving the attached agreement with Rice County for the 2021-2023 yard waste composting.

 

Summary Report:

This three-year agreement with Rice County is for reimbursement back to the City to operate the City Compost Site.  The City will receive $18,460.38 annually to manage the City compost site.  Reimbursement items include wood chipping, processing yard waste, site monitoring and removal of items from the site. 

 

The City compost site is for Northfield Residents, and it isn’t open for commercial contractors. 

 

Alternative Options:

Do not approve the annual agreement with Rice County for 2018-2020 yard waste composting.

 

Financial Impacts:                     

This agreement provides the City with compensation of $18,460.38 annually, which is based on a per capita rate of $0.89 per person.

 

Tentative Timelines:                     

January 1, 2021 - December 31, 2023.
