Title
Consider motion regarding establishment of Carbon Reduction Fund

Action Requested:
The EQC is asked to adopt a motion recommending that City Council adopt the Carbon Reduction Fund resolution.
Summary Report:
The Climate Action Plan lists a variety of activities such as tree planting, converting turf to pollinator habitat and other such actions that will help to sequester and reduce carbon as Northfield works toward being 100% carbon-free by 2040. In order to carry out these actions, it is anticipated there will be funding needs beyond the City budget. City staff and the City Administrator have suggested the creation of a “carbon reduction fund” that could be used for these purposes. The attached resolution would allow the creation of such a fund to be established.

No recommendation or changes to the resolution.
Financial Impacts:
Increased funding for some projects in the Climate Action Plan.
Tentative Timelines:
Resolution brought to City Council in October 2020.
