Oath of Office Ceremony for Northfield Police Department Promotions.

Action Requested:                     

City Clerk, Deb Little, will administer the Oath of Office to Police Officer Gabriel Crombie, Sergeant Jesse Cordova, Sergeant Brian Kramer, Deputy Chief P.T. Haider, and Chief Mark Elliott.

 

Summary Report:

With the retirement of Police Chief Monte Nelson on July 31, a cascade of promotions swept through the Police Department and we will be ceremoniously administering the Oath of Office to each of the five Officers named below as they assume their new roles in the Police Department.  This ceremony will be done remotely from the Police Department Training Room.

 

Chief Mark Elliott

Mark has worked the Deputy Chief in Northfield for 16 months prior to his promotion to Chief on August 1st. Prior to Northfield, Mark had experience as the Police Chief in Prior Lake, and before that held many positions with the Bloomington Police Department for more than 22 years.  Mark has a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, a bachelor’s degree in Police Science and is a graduate of the School of Police Staff and Command.

 

Deputy Chief P.T. Haider was promoted to Deputy Chief on August 1st.  He is a 14-year veteran of the Northfield Police Department having held positions as a Patrol Officer, Investigator and Sergeant.  He is a former school teacher and has a bachelor’s degree in Education and Sports Science from St. Olaf College.

 

Sergeant Brian Kramer was promoted to Sergeant on May 17th.  He is an 8-year veteran of the Northfield Police Department and former Alexandria Police Officer for 5 years.  He had held positions as a Patrol Officer and Investigator.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement.

 

Sergeant Jesse Cordova was promoted to Sergeant on August 23rd.  He is a 24-year veteran of the Northfield Police Department and has held positions of Patrol Officer, Investigator and Drug Crime Investigator.  He has an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement.

 

Officer Gabriel Crombie has been with the Northfield Police Department since March 2020.  Officer Crombie was originally hired in a temporary capacity to fill a long-term vacancy left from the activation and deployment of Officer Kyle Watkins in service to the MN National Guard.  With the previously mentioned promotions, Gabriel filled the opening with a permanent appointment on August 1st.  Gabriel is a former Social Worker and has an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement.
