SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED:
The Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) to welcome new Board Members, Sandra Gerdes and Shelley Holden.

BACKGROUND:
The HRA expanded their board from 5 members to 7 members on January 28, 2020. Two new board members were selected by Mayor Pownell. The selection was approved by the City Council on February 4, 2020.

ANALYSIS:
Sandra Gerdes is the Executive Director at Laura Baker Services Association. Working in housing issues has been an integral part of her work. She is responsible for ensuring governance of the organization in conjunction with the Board of Trustees. She was a member of Governor Dayton's Council on Diversity and Inclusion, Civic Engagement subcommittee. Sandra has served on a number of boards at St John's Lutheran Church, including serving as president. Sandra has been an active member of the Affordable Housing Task Force since it's inception in January 2016. She serves on the Ruth's House of Hope Board of Directors and has served on the Defeat of Jesse James Day Committee for over 20 years. Sandra graduated from St Olaf College with a BA in English and Religion, where she focused on community building.

Shelley Holden has worked in the area of older adult housing for over 20 years, the last 14 years at the Northfield Retirement Community. She was instrumental in opening Kildahl Park Pointe Cooperative. Shelley holds a Minnesota Real Estate Brokers License and currently acts as managing agent to Kildahl Park Pointe Cooperative and the Evergreens of Cannon Valley Townhomes. She is very civic-minded and works toward the betterment of our Northfield Community by being a part of many local groups.
