EQC Meeting Date: December 18, 2019
To: Members of the Environmental Quality Commission
From: Beth Kallestad, Program Coordinator
Title
Consider EQC Calendar and Work Plan for 2020
Body
Action Requested:
The EQC will discuss items to be included in its calendar and work plan for 2020.
Summary Report:
To carry out the work of the EQC, a calendar/work plan will be created of items that are required be addressed as well as items EQC wishes to work on with specific timeframes for 2020. EQC began this discussion at its November meeting. Staff have made some edits to the document and are bringing back to EQC for input and edits. Staff is proposing a process for Climate Action Plan (CAP) oversight that designates a person/people to be a key contact/lead for each topic area and a potential frequency for reporting. This process can be modified based on desires of the EQC.
A summary of some of the action items in the CAP was compiled by EQC member Hansen and is provided as guide to help EQC think about the topic areas for focus.
Staff recently took part in a Green Step Cities meeting for cities interested in moving from Step 3 (which Northfield is) to Step 4 and/or 5. Many of the actions to make this move would also overlap with Climate Action Plan items. Staff recommends that the EQC consider using the worksheet and items in the Step 4/5 program as a tool for making progress on Climate Action Plan. <https://greenstep.pca.state.mn.us/page/steps-4-and-5> . Staff will review this worksheet at the meeting.
