Title

Consider approving designation of City of Northfield polling places for 2020.

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves the attached Resolution designating polling locations for 2020.

Summary Report:

A law change in 2017 required municipalities to designate polling places for each election precinct before December 31 of each year. Due to the addition of the Presidential Nomination Primary on March 3, 2020, polling place designations must be completed no later than December 5, 2019.  Staff has received confirmation from our eight existing polling locations that as of right now we will be able to continue to use their space for the 2020 elections.  The law allows changes to polling locations if needed.  Staff will bring forward a new resolution if changes are needed at a later date.  Changes are allowed if there is an emergency or if a polling place becomes unavailable.
