Review of Draft Climate Action Plan.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council receives a presentation on the draft Climate Action Plan and Council discusses any questions.
Summary Report:
In 2018, the City began work on a Climate Action Plan (CAP) as one of the six priority areas of the Strategic Plan. The Mayor appointed a group of citizens to be the Climate Action Plan Advisory Board (CAPAB). The City hired Great Plains Institute as a consultant to help develop the CAP. Over the past year the CAPAB, consultant and staff have worked to develop this draft plan. Community input has been requested and received at several points in the CAP development process. Information and updates have been shared with Boards & Commissions as well as City Council. Staff have also given feedback.
The CAPAB and EQC have both voted to accept this plan and recommend adoption by City Council.
The presentation provided tonight is to share the overall draft CAP and answer questions the Council may have prior to a request for a motion to adopt the plan on November 5, 2019.

Financial Impacts:
A request for $20,000 has been included in the 2020 Budget to begin some implementation actions. Total financial impacts of the entire plan are not available.

Requesting motion to adopt the Climate Action Plan on November 5, 2019.
