Action Requested:
The Northfield Human Rights Commission will receive update regarding discussion of youth voting members from July 11, 2019
Summary Report:
At the July 11, 2019 HRC meeting staff was asked to look into the attendance of youth on other advisory boards as well as staff feedback to help HRC determine if they wanted to ask Council to consider a policy allowing all youth on advisory Boards to be voting members.
See attached for summary of attendance from youth on advisory boards in the past year. Concerns raised by other staff liaison were regarding possible issues with quorum and needing to amend bylaws.
Staff suggestion is that if HRC wishes to pursue this that HRC members should ask the issue be added to the agendas of all affected Boards/Commissions for their input before making a recommendation to Council.
