The Northfield City Council will receive a presentation from Suzzanne Fox, Outreach Coordinator for Ruth’s House of Hope.

 

Summary Report:

Ruth’s House of Hope has requested the Northfield City Council proclaim November 3, 2019 as Ruth’s House of Hope Day in Northfield.  The City Council is asked to approve a Resolution proclaiming November 3, 2019 as Ruth’s House of Hope Day in Northfield as part of the consent agenda.  Suzzanne Fox, Outreach Coordinator for Ruth’s House of Hope, will provide a brief verbal presentation.  Ruth’s House of Hope is hosting a benefit concert featuring acclaimed a capella group, Tonic Sol-Fa, on November 3, 2019.  Additional details can be found on their website: <https://ruthshousemn.org>

 

Ruth’s House opened in 2004 in response to an unmet need for safe shelter for homeless women and children in Rice County.  Ruth’s House of Hope opened a Northfield site office in 2017 to better serve residents of the Northfield community.  Ruth’s House of Hope provides over 7,000 nights of safe housing to over 120 women and children each year in its emergency/transition shelter and permanent supportive housing units.  The community benefits from Ruth’s House of Hope support to women and children fleeing domestic violence, experiencing homelessness, struggling with poverty, and facing chemical dependency by providing compassionate care and treating all women and children with dignity and respect.
