Update on Climate Action Plan

SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED:
The EDA Board will hear a brief presentation from Beth Kallestad, Project Coordinator and Climate Action Plan Advisory Board (CAPAB) staff liaison.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Northfield has contracted with Great Plains Institute to assist the CAPAB in developing a Climate Action Plan. This plan is intended to guide the efforts of the City internally with the buildings, facilities and services we provide as well as the wider community. A portion of the CAP will involve proposed actions and policies regarding energy use and future development so the CAPAB wanted to keep the EDA current on process and opportunities for input.
A first draft of the CAP was reviewed by the CAPAB, EQC and some city staff in late June/July. A revised version of the draft CAP will be available for public comment in early September and the CAPAB asks that EDA members review the draft at that time. Today’s presentation will cover the remaining timeline, outline of the plan and a few key points of interest to the EDA, and any questions you might have.
