Title

Consider Motion Approving Permanent Easement for the 2018 Spring Creek Road Reconstruction Project - 10017 Hall Avenue

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves a Permanent Easement Agreement with 10017 Hall Avenue.

Summary Report:

City Council has moved the Spring Creek Road Reconstruction Project through the design and bidding process.  Bids were opened on September 20, 2018.  City Staff has worked with the property owner along the project corridor, and have acquired a permanent easement from the above-mentioned property owner.  This permanent easement (Attachment 1) will allow the construction project to be built as previously approved by City Council.  Spring Creek Road is part of the City of Northfield’s Municipal State Aid (MSA) program.

Alternative Options:

The City Council could decide not to accept this easement; however, the project contract cannot be awarded, and the project will not be able to be built as previously approved by City Council.

Financial Impacts:

The permanent easement is 2,310 square feet.  The agreed upon price for the easement is $636.38.  This amount will be paid to the homeowner upon approval.

Tentative Timelines:

Once the easement is signed by all parties, it will be sent to Rice County for recording.
