Consider Motion Approving Drainage and Utility Easement Agreement with Vernon and Joan Koester on Outlot A Southbridge 1st Addition.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council considers a Motion approving a drainage and utility easement with Vernon and Joan Koester on Outlot A Southbridge 1st Addition.
Summary Report:
During the platting process for Southbridge 1st addition a drainage and utility easement was placed over the entire area of Outlot A. The easement in its current form isn’t needed over the entire Outlot A.
Staff has been working with the property owner to identify the portions of the property that need to be included within the Drainage and Utility Easement. The new location of the easement is shown in Exhibit C in the attached easement agreement. Staff is recommending approval of this easement agreement.
Alternative Options:
The City Council could decide not to approve the easement agreement. However, staff believe the easement in its current from isn’t necessary and isn’t serving a public purpose.
Financial Impacts:
A fee of $1.00 is proposed for the acquisition of each easement, along with staff and legal time to draft the easement agreements.
