The Northfield Human Rights Commission receives an update from Najwa Community Picnic planning group.
Summary Report:
Date: June 29, 2019, Noon - 2 PM
Venue facilities:
Location will be Jefferson Park, 1581 Jefferson Parkway West
* Angelique looked into renting and set up of tent and tables and chairs. Beth has place the reservation order. Currently for delivery at Jefferson but that can be changed to Bridgewater of course.
* Beth also is taking care of all the other City related issues, like identifying utility lines for tent set-up and placement for dumpsters
Speakers and Performers:
* Welcome by the Mayor (Mar will invite Rhonda)
* Welcome by Tom Loretto (confirmed)
* Acoustic performance by Bonnie and the Clydes (confirmed) - they will be ready by noon sharp and are honored to have been invited.
* Helen Forsyth is not available, nor are Louis and Dan and the Invisible Band
Development of publicity (Mar, Beth, Kara)
* Beth and Kara (Communications staff met). Kara will create poster (draft sent to Mar) and door-to-door half sheets by June 13th meeting. She will also create Facebook event and make weekly posts, also info on City website.
Food and Beverages:
* Mar, does June 29, work for Maria do prepare food, or do we need to look for another caterer?
Flyering:
* Angelique learned we should include the town homes at Jefferson Square in our door to door advertising - perhaps Marcia, Enrique, Richard and Tom were already thinking of that, but it had skipped my mind entirely.
* Larry will notify congregations around town.
Next meeting: June 26, 6:30 PM at Jefferson Park
Agenda: assigning tasks for the event, e.g., who will be there if Rent 'n Save will set up tent real early in the morning?
