EQC to discuss a proposed update to the Dark Skies Ordinance.

Action Requested:
The Northfield Environmental Quality Commission considers a Motion to send the proposed ordinance amendment regarding Dark Skies to City staff for review.
Summary Report:
EQC members have drafted a proposed update to the Dark Skies section of the Land Development Code. The proposal is attached for review. EQC members are to discuss the proposed update. EQC member Smith presented the amendment to the Planning Commission at the May Planning Commission meeting.
EQC members can consider a motion to send the proposed ordinance amendment to City staff for review. Staff will review and revise the amendments to the ordinance and, upon their approval, send the draft to the City Attorney. Once the City Attorney has reviewed, the proposed amendment will be reviewed by the EQC with the option to make a motion to send the ordinance amendment to the Planning Commission for review.

- Ability for staff to conduct audits.
- Definitions of key terms within the amendment.
- Other items to be considered by the Community Development Department of the City.
