Presentation of Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) Projects and Request for 2020 Budget Appropriation.

The Northfield City Council will have a presentation from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. Opportunity for questions or comments from the City Council. No action.
Summary Report:
For many years, the City of Northfield has given SMIF a contribution to help with programming. The earliest payment in our financial accounting software was in 2007 for $4,000 from the EDA fund. In 2010, the contribution increased to $5,000, and we have given them a $5,000 contribution each year since. The contribution originally came from the EDA, but has been from the General Fund since 2012. The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation is requesting the City of Northfield contribute $6,500 for the 2020 budget year.
Jennifer Nelson, VP of Development, will be at the meeting to make the presentation on some of the projects SMIF has been working on over the past year.

Financial Impacts:
Consideration of funding will be made at a future meeting. $5,000 is being included in the preliminary budget numbers but only as an initial placeholder.
