There will be a brief presentation recognizing Isabella Callery’s 1st place honors at the Poetry Out Loud National Finals.

 

Summary Report:

Arcadia Charter School senior Isabella Callery won the MN state Poetry Out Loud competition on March 7 at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis. She advanced to the national competition, held in Washington DC on April 30-May 1, and was among the 53 state champions competing in the National Finals. Isabella earned top honors, reciting poems by Joy Harjo, Natalie Diaz and Charles Lamb, earning a $20,000 award. Isabella has competed at the state level for Poetry Out Loud since her freshman year of high school, but this was her first appearance at the National Finals. Poetry Out Loud, now in its 14th year, is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.
