City Council Meeting Date: April 16, 2019
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Ben Martig, City Administrator
Title
Discussion of Transit Hub and Depot Projects.
Body
Action Requested:
Discussion only.
Summary Report:
Representatives of the Save the Northfield Depot will give a presentation of their 2018 Annual Report.
After completion of the Save the Northfield Depot presentation, Staff will provide an update on the potential transit hub project after the presentation. As you know, we have pursuing $2,500,000 for a potential project. See the attachment for more information.
The City Council had discussed potentially exploring the construction of the access road independent of other funding in an effort to incrementally pursue the transit hub by at least getting a transfer area established as well as to benefit the Save the Northfield group to assist in completing their project. Should the Council be interested in pursuing assistance to complete an access road in 2019, we would need to prepare in the near future to work out details of bidding and agreements with the Save the Northfield Depot group.
Staff will be preparing more information in advance of the meeting including a presentation on the issue.
Alternative Options:
Discussion only.
Financial Impacts:
Staff is working on cost estimate at this time but believes the access road project would cost around $300,000.
Tentative Timelines:
If Council wishes to pursue construction of the access drive in 2019, this is what the schedule would look like.

• May 7, 2019 City Council - Agreements with Save the Northfield Depot
