Summary Report:
At the July 17, 2018 City Council meeting, City Council approved Resolution 2018-070, requesting inclusion in the State Transportation Fund Local Bridge Replacement Program (Attachment 1) for Bridge No. L2765, located on Spring Creek Road over Spring Creek, which was deemed deficient. The City of Northfield received notice (Attachment 2) in November 2018 that this bridge project was chosen to receive a grant from the Motor Vehicle Sales Tax (MVST) Bridge Fund for bridge replacement in 2019. It is proposed to install dual box culverts side by side to replace the existing deficient bridge. Installing these two new box culvers will require the acquisition of permanent and temporary easements to allow proper installation and operation once the project is complete. A total of seven permanent and temporary easements from four parcels are required.
This project was part of the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Project (CIP) plan adopted by City Council at the December 4, 2018 City Council meeting.
Alternative Option
The City Council could decide not to approve these easements; however, and the project will not be able to be built as designed.
