Title

Approve Memorial Park Parking Lot Agreement with Carleton College.

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves the Memorial Park parking lot agreement with Carleton College.

Summary Report:

Carleton College is requesting to lease the Memorial Park parking lot for contractor parking related to their major Science Center project.  They have indicated that they do not have enough on-site parking for their contractors while building the Science Facility.  The contractors are parking on the street near the college and by approving this lease agreement; it would lessen the burden of on street parking during the winter months.  There are approximately 75 parking spots at this parking lot but it typically is not made available during the winter months. Carleton College would shuttle the contractors to and from the parking lot.  The intent is that the use would also be available to the general public.

Staff is working with Carleton representatives and City Attorney Hood to finalize proposed terms and conditions.  The proposed contract will be sent out as a supplemental memo.
