Title
Consider a Motion Regarding Water Supply Plan
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield Environmental Quality Commission is to consider recommending a motion approving staff to bring the Water Supply Plan to the City Council.
Summary Report:
The City of Northfield’s Water Supply System is required by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR) to have a Water Supply Plan. The plan discusses current operational norms for our wells and water tanks. The plan discusses emergency situations where the City would be required to use less water due to drought and other causes. The plan also discusses future plans going out 10 years. This plan is valid for 10 years at a time and then needs to be updated and reapproved. The plan was last approved in 2014 however the plans was required to be redone by late 2017.
The plan has since been approved by the MN DNR and is now requesting City Council adoption of the plan. Staff is requesting that the EQC review the plan and consider a motion that approves staff bringing forward the Water Supply Plan to the City Council.
