The Northfield Environmental Quality Commission is to discuss Tree Related Items.
Summary Report:
EQC members are to discuss three tree related items. The three items to discuss are as follows:
- Letter from the tree subcommittee.
- Amur Corktree update to the prohibited tree list.
- EQC requesting to have authority to adjust the tree list.
The letter from the tree subcommittee is attached. Staff has reviewed the letter from the subcommittee and currently does not feel the need for the windshield survey. The City has a boulevard tree database that could be used in place of the windshield survey. Staff would recommend that any action step related to an Urban Forest Management Plan be brought through the Climate Action Plan.
In August, EQC recommended that the Amur Corktree should be added to the prohibited tree list recommendation. The City does not maintain a Prohibited Tree List.
In August, EQC made a recommendation to change the policy so that EQC would be responsible for updating the approved tree list. The role of the EQC is to advise the city council. The EQC can review the approved tree lists and provide recommendations to the City Council on changes.
