Summary Report:
The City has a number of transportation related policy issues that are currently either active or potentially coming to discussion. Therefore, the City Council discussed this item at their September 4, 2018 City Council meeting and approved the creation of the Northfield Transportation Advisory Committee on September 18, 2018. The resolution is attached for your information.
The Mayor and City Administrator are suggesting that future discussion include: Highway #246 turn back, transit related strategic plan goals and Highway #19 corridor related initiatives. We are suggesting to formally adopt the scope, project and focus area for the Northfield Transportation Advisory Committee by resolution at the end of October. The Mayor would also be seeking appointments concurrent with this process and would like to have shared understanding of the projects in advance of considering the appointments.
The Mayor and I would welcome the opportunity to explain further these suggested focus areas. Additionally, we welcome the opportunity to discuss these or other ideas related to the scope, project and focus areas in greater detail at the meeting in preparation of creating a resolution for the end of October.
