Title

Discussion of Public Works Banner Policy.

Body

Action Requested:

Discussion only.

Summary Report:

The Public Works Department has prepared Street and Utility policies for Council consideration.  Staff have updated the Banner Policy based on City Council and Arts and Culture Commission input.

The Banner Policy was updated to allow for additional banners beyond the five that are currently identified in the policy, but this would require Council approval.  In addition, the banners are for temporary display and not intended to promote a particular branding element in Northfield.

Staff is continuing to review the feedback from the ACC and the City Council meeting to incorporate a final draft version for council review.  We are also working on developing a map that would illustrate the location of the banners currently. Additionally, we are exploring having the locations as an exhibit to the map for council authorization to include where the banners would be provided. We are reviewing city plans also for guidance on those considerations.  Final information including a revised proposed final draft will be provided in a supplemental memorandum.
