Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves a temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for St. Dominic School for an event to be held at 104 Linden Street North on October 6, 2018.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to consider approval of a temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license to be issued to St. Dominic School for an event to be held at 104 Linden Street North (lower level parking lot of the Church of St. Dominic) on October 6, 2018.
The City may, with the approval of the Commissioner of Public Safety, issue a temporary on-sale license for the sale of intoxicating liquor in connection with a social event within the city sponsored by the licensee, to:
(i) a club or charitable, religious, or other nonprofit organization in existence for at least three years;
(ii) a political committee registered under Minn. Stat. § 10A.14; or
(iii) a state university.
St. Dominic School qualifies as a religious organization in existence for at least three years. The application has been checked for compliance with Minnesota State law and City Code and meets all requirements. The application must be approved by the City before being submitted to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division for final approval of the license. Staff recommends approval.
