Motion to send DSI contract extension to City Council for staff to enter into negotiations.

Action Requested:
The Northfield Environmental Quality Commission is requested to make a motion to have the City Council of Northfield direct staff to enter into contract negotiations with DSI for an extension of the refuse contract. Staff is to look at the current contract with modifications to the following items:
• Work with City of Northfield to develop an outreach program
• Provide additional annual data regarding Northfield’s waste stream
• Keep the current language related to curbside composting in the contract
Summary Report:
At the June EQC meeting, representatives from DSI responded to questions asked by the EQC. From those questions, EQC members discussed items they would like to see staff negotiate with DSI to be included in the extended refuse contact. The motion will bring this item to the City Council for their approval. Once the City Council has made the motion, staff will enter into contract negotiations with DSI for a contract extension.
