Title

Consider Authorization for Staff to Explore and Submit a Grant Application to the National Park Service Related to the Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance Program.

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves a motion for Staff to Explore and Submit a Grant Application to the National Park Service Related to the Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance Program.

Summary Report:

Staff has been provided information on a National Park Service Related to the Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance Program.  This could be a source of assistance in exploring the action steps to complete the “Riverfront enhancement” Strategic Initiative in the City’s adopted Strategic Plan (2018-2020).

We received general information on the grant on June 11 and are working on getting information from the National Park Service on the program.

Alternative Options:

Deny the request for staff to explore a grant application for June 30.  We’d still explore whether the program would be available in the future.

Financial Impacts:

Not yet determined

Tentative Timelines:

The grant application deadline is June 30, 2018.
