Title

Project Update and Consider Funding Request from Age Friendly Northfield

Body

Action Requested:

Staff recommends a motion to approve $5,000.00 for the Age Friendly Northfield Initiative effort and development of a service contract for consideration at the June 19, 2018 Council meeting.

Summary Report:

Please see attached letter from the Age Friendly Northfield Steering Committee representatives. Staff has consulted City Attorney Hood who has recommended a simple service agreement format for considering a funding request. Staff is recommending first getting direction from Council through a motion at this meeting regarding funding and development of a service contract as noted above.

The Age Friendly Northfield Action Plan is consistent with the City Strategic Initiative to “Develop Equitable Service Access Strategy” under the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategic outcome.

Age Friendly Northfield Steering Committee Co-Chairs Lynne Pederson and Shelley Holden will be at the meeting to give an update. City Administrator Martig will have some information to present as well. Councilor DeLong has served as a liaison to the group and may have some comments to provide.

Alternative Options:

Consider alternate funding amount for the Age Friendly Northfield request.

Financial Impacts:

Staff is recommending the $5,000 funding to be expensed from the Mayor and Council budget.

Tentative Timelines:

See background letter.
