Consider Termination of Contract Between Owner and Architect, Construction Manager as Adviser Edition with DJ Medin Architects

The Northfield City Council terminates contract AIA Document B132 - 2009 Standard Form of Agreement between Owner and Architect, Construction Manager as Adviser Edition with DJ Medin Architects approved on March 21, 2017.
Summary Report:
The agreement between the City of Northfield and Architect, Construction Manager as Adviser Edition with DJ Medin Architects was approved on March 21, 2017 (copy attached). The contract was for architectural services for design of the NAFRS expansion project as well as bidding and construction phase services. The original Fire Station expansion and remodel project bids were opened on Tuesday, February 27. Bids were only received for 11 of the 23 bid packages. In addition, the bids came in high in some areas.
The NAFRS Facility Committee and NAFRS Board met and reviewed the results of the bidding process and agreed to recommend to the City Council to reject the bids and re-bid the project as a General Contractor contract. On March 13, 2018, the Northfield City Council approved Resolution 2018-027 Rejecting Bids for Fire Station Expansion and Remodel Project FACL2015-M07 and Resolution 2018-028 - Approving Plans and Specifications and
Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for Fire Station Expansion and Remodel Project Facl2015-M07. Therefore, the contract with DJ Medin Architects for Architect, Construction Manager as Adviser Edition is proposed to be terminated. The existing Architect’s contract with Medin will be terminated and a new contract is proposed following this item.
