Consider Resolution Amending NAFRS Joint Powers Agreement

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council considers approving the attached Resolution authorizing the first amendment to the NAFRS Joint Powers Agreement.

 

Summary Report:

The proposed Resolution authorizing the first amendment to the NAFRS Joint Powers Agreement has been drafted by City Attorney Hood in conjunction with the financing of the major remodel and expansion of the Fire Station project. The provisions remove some initial language from the Joint Powers Agreement. Additionally, the new language maintains the City of Northfield as owners of the property in conjunction with terms of the lease that is on the agenda for approval this evening.

 

The Northfield Rural Fire Protection District met on April 23, 2018 and approved Resolution 2018-2 - Authorizing First Amendment to the Joint Powers Agreement (attachment 3). Additionally, on Monday, April 23 the City of Dundas has also approved the Authorizing First Amendment to the Joint Powers Agreement (attachment 4).

Tentative Timelines:

The City of Northfield is the final approval of the Joint Powers Agreement amendment. The new agreement will be in effect once approved by the City of Northfield.
