Title

Review the Pedestrian, Bike and Park Trail System Update Request for Proposal

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council considers reviewing the Request for Proposal to update Northfield’s pedestrian, bike and park trail system.

Summary Report:

As part of the City’s 2017 Strategic Plan, the City of Northfield identified a strategic iniative to update its pedestrian, bike and park trail system plan.  This plan is part of the Parks, Open Space and Trail System Plan that was adopted in 2008 as an amendment to the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

This update will look at local and regional connectivity within the plan.  It will review existing plans and provide recommendation on changes that will provide for better continuity and integration.

The update will review trail and sidewalk connectivity, identify gaps, establish a route for the Mill Towns State Trail within the City, and identify issues related to walking and bike access to the Northfield High School and Arcadia Charter School as it relates to Safe Routes to School Plan.

The ultimate goal of this update is to make it easier for non-motorist users of all ages to access destinations in Northfield safely and easily and provide recreational opportunities.
