Title

Consider Resolution Authorizing MnDOT to Act as Federal Funding Conduit for Local Road Improvement Projects

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves a Resolution authorizing the City to enter into Agreement 1029987 with MnDOT to act as Federal Funding Agent for Local Improvement Projects.

Summary Report:

Should the City elect to apply for and receive federal funding for an improvement project, the attached agreement with MnDOT will allow for the Federal Highway Administration to disperse the funds to MnDOT.  MnDOT will act as our agent and disperse the federal funds to the City in accordance with Federal rules.

The City will still be responsible for administering the contract for the project.  This agreement is a standard agreement that is set up with other cities in the state.

As an example, the federal funding received for the Woodley Street Improvement project in 2016 utilized this same process where MnDOT is the fiscal agent to distribute the federal funds.
