Title

Discussion on Revisions to Sign Code for Historic District

Body

ACTION REQUESTED:

Discussion on proposed changes to sign regulations in the Historic District.

SUMMARY:

A subcommittee of the HPC has been reviewing the signage regulations in the Land Development Code (LDC) over the past several months.  The goal is to eliminate ambiguous language and address issues we have been having with fonts, logos, and modern features like phone numbers and websites.

The draft revisions are attached to this staff report.  The Commission is asked to review the proposed changes and suggest any needed revisions. We should also talk about any public outreach the HPC would like to undertake prior to forwarding the proposal to the Planning Commission.

TIMELINE:

Once the language changes are agreed upon by the HPC, the proposed amendment to the Land Development Code (LDC) will be forwarded to the Planning Commission for review.  Their recommendation is then forwarded to City Council for approval.  This process will take a couple months and will involve public hearings on the matter.  Amendments to the LDC require an Ordinance.
