Northfield Historical Society Report & Funding Request.

Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council receive the report and funding request from the Northfield Historical Society. 

 

Summary Report:

Cathy Osterman, Northfield Historical Society, will provide a presentation on the Northfield Historical Society activities and proposed projects and activities for the coming year.  The current contract with the Northfield Historical Society is attached and expires on December 31, 2017. There is additional background information provided to the City Council in the attachments.

 

Alternative Options:

This is only a presentation of the request at this time.  Staff would welcome alternative thoughts related to the funding consideration at upcoming budget work sessions.

 

Financial Impacts:                     

Requested Funding 2018-2020 (3-year contract) Proposal A = $29,000 per year; Proposal B = $45,000 per year.  Staff currently has $25,792 in the Mayor and Council preliminary budgets for 2018 and 2019.

 

Tentative Timelines:                     

City Administrator Martig will be scheduling this item with Mayor Pownell for discussion in October for Council discussion on interest for funding in conjunction with our 2018-2019 budget development. Thereafter, staff would work on a draft agreement to bring back for Council consideration.
