The City Council approves the following appointment:
Carla Hansen to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals with a term expiring December 31, 2018.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment as noted above.
Carla Hansen is being recommended to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals. Ms. Hansen notes on her application that it is important that persons with climate action planning knowledge participate as members of the Planning Commission/Zoning Board and that writing a CAP directly impacts all sections of the City's Comprehensive Plan. Ms. Hansen is a registered nurse and certified research coordinator. Ms. Hansen has worked with the Northfield Energy Working Group (a sub commission of Northfield's Environmental Quality Commission), the Greater Northfield Sustainability Collaborative, and the Northfield Area Community Solar groups. Working with these groups has taught her that multi-level action is needed NOW to lessen the local and global inevitable impacts of a changing climate. She states that her knowledge of climate action planning and her applied research skills would bring a helpful perspective to the Planning Commission/Zoning Board.
