Northfield Downtown Development Corporation (NDDC) Funding Request Presentation

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council will receive a funding request from NDDC representatives.
Summary Report:
Jenni Roney, Executive Director of the Northfield Downtown Development Corporation will be in attendance at the meeting to present the 2018 funding request. The 2017 NDDC Contract, approved by the Northfield City Council on November 15, 2016 by Motion M2016-149, is attached along with the related supplemental information provided at that time (attachment 1). There is additional background information provided to the City Council in the attachments.
Alternative Options:
This is only a presentation of the request at this time. Staff would welcome alternative thoughts related to the funding consideration at the September 12th worksession.
Financial Impacts:
Requested Funding 2018-2019 (2-year contract $35,000 per year. Staff currently has $35,000 in the Mayor and Council preliminary budgets for 2018 and 2019.
The NDDC funding is currently in the preliminary proposed 2018-2019 city budgets at $35,000 per year.
Summary of City funding 2015-2017 (further research back further could be explored upon request):
Actual 2017 = $17,500
Actual 2016 = $35,000
Actual 2015 = $35,000
Tentative Timelines:
* September 12th - Budget Worksession - Currently there is $35,000 for 2018 and 2019 Preliminary Budget. Council could provide alternative direction on the current dollars included in these budgets.
* September 19th - Preliminary Levy Adoption on September 19th (currently includes $35,000 for 2018 and 2019 preliminary proposed budgets). The levy cannot be increased after this date but the budget can be adjusted up or down.
