Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves the 2018 budget request from the Northfield Area Fire and Rescue Service (NAFRS) with the proposed budget of $551,000, of which Northfield's contribution is $394,350.70.
Summary Report:
Please see attached background information related to the 2018 budget request by NAFRS. The board made their recommendation at the meeting in July. The total expenditures proposed are $551,000, of which Northfield's contribution is $394,350.70.
The City Council reviewed this budget request at the August 15th Council meeting. There were no concerns raised and staff intended to bring to the consent agenda.
The Joint Powers Agreement requires action by the governing bodies of each of the parties on or before September 30 in each year.
The Joint Powers Agreement Fire Protection and Rescue Services requires board adoption of a budget by August 1. The NAFRS board met on Thursday, July 20 and unanimously recommended approval of their 2018 budget request. The request letter and related budget materials presented at the board meeting are attached for your information.
